Chair «Women and Christianity»

The Pontifical Theological Faculty “Marianum,” which aims to promote studies on the Virgin Mary, mother of Jesus of Nazareth, and her impact on the life of the Church and society, has established, as part of its academic activity, the Chair “Women and Christianity.”

The Chair has a historical-theological focus and aims to:

  • study the many aspects of the condition of women in various historical periods, cultures, and religions, especially in Christianity
  • conduct a survey of the condition of women on various continents at the beginning of the 21st century
  • evaluate the influence that the figure of Mary of Nazareth has had on the understanding of the “person-woman,” her dignity, and her role in society and the Church

To this end, the Chair organizes three meetings (study afternoons) during the academic year. The current director of the Chair is Professor Simona Segoloni Ruta.
