«Edizioni Marianum» and its series

The publishing house was founded in 1979 with the mission of publishing and distributing scholarly publications, conference proceedings, and liturgical aids promoted by various bodies dependent on the Order of the Servants of Mary: the Pontifical Theological Faculty “Marianum”, the Historical Institute of the Order of the Servants of Mary, the Historical Archives, and the International Liturgical Commission (CLIOS). Below is a list of the main editorial series edited by Edizioni Marianum.

 

Proceedings of the International Mariology Symposiums (SIM)

Every two years, the Pontifical Theological Faculty Marianum organizes an International Mariological Symposium, selecting a specific topic of particular interest in Mariology, adopting an interdisciplinary approach. The results of the research presented at the Symposia are published in a dedicated series of conference proceedings.

Series “Scripta Facultatis”

The Series publishes worthy graduate and doctoral theses, as well as monographs produced by professors and researchers presenting the results of particularly significant studies. The series also includes the periodical publication of the Marian Bibliography, a comprehensive and structured repertoire of all available sources in various languages, an indispensable tool for Mariological research.

Series “Monumenta Ordinis, Nova Series”

This series, edited by the Historical Institute of the Order of the Servants of Mary since 2001, is the successor to the series of the same name published between 1897 and 1930. It follows the renewed positivist historiography of the nineteenth century, harking back to the “Monumenta Germaniae Historica” ​​and following the example of other religious orders. The new series features sources for the history of the Servants of Mary, accompanied by the necessary critical apparatus.

Series “Scrinium Historiale”

The “Scrinium Historiale” series, a companion to the journal “Studi Storici dell’Ordine dei Servi di Maria”, aims to highlight key elements from the religious family’s movements, figures, devotional practices, and foundations, providing a broader and more comprehensive overview of its history. The collection features monographic contributions of considerable importance both in content and page count.

Series “Communicantes. Nova Series”

The series, edited by the International Liturgical Commission OSM (CLIOS), aims to foster a thorough understanding of the message of a memorial or liturgical feast of the Order through an in-depth study of the relevant liturgical texts. The goal is to grasp the spiritual values ​​and evangelical traits that characterized the lives of the saints and blesseds celebrated. The various contributions that comprise the various volumes are organized into a primarily informative section, including a reference bibliography and biographical notes. This is followed by the actual study of the liturgy and, where possible, the iconographic production related to the subject studied.

Series “Laudemus Viros Gloriosos”

The series, edited by the International Liturgical Commission OSM (CLIOS), aims to provide resources for use in the memorial of the Order’s saints and blesseds, offering prayer templates that can foster active participation in celebrations, in accordance with the wishes of the Second Vatican Council. The resources are accompanied by hagiographic readings, psalmodies, hymns, and scores with texts set to music.
