COOKIE POLICY
1. INTRODUCTION
This document is prepared by the FACULTY, which owns the website www.marianum.it (hereinafter the “Portal”) and manages its content. The Portal uses technology known as cookies primarily to make its services simple and efficient for users visiting the Portal.
This cookie policy (hereinafter the “Cookie Policy”), which should be read in addition to the information provided in the Privacy Policy, which we invite you to review, is intended to describe the types of cookies in general and those used on the Portal, the reasons and conditions for their use, and finally, how to disable them.
2. DEFINITION AND FUNCTION OF COOKIES
Cookies are small files that are sent from a web server to the user’s internet browser. The user’s internet browser automatically stores them on the computer and automatically sends them back to the server each time the site is accessed.
There are various types of cookies, some to make the Portal more efficient, others to enable certain features. Cookies allow a page, among other things, to store and retrieve information about a user’s browsing habits or their device and, depending on the information contained and how the device is used, can be used to recognize the user.
3. COOKIE CONFIGURATION
Cookies can be classified according to various parameters. They can be first-party cookies or third-party cookies, depending on the entity that manages the domain from which the cookies are sent; and session cookies or persistent cookies, depending on the period of time they remain stored on the user’s terminal.
Depending on the purpose for which the data obtained is processed, the following types of cookies can be defined:
– Technical cookies;
– Analysis cookies;
– Behavioral advertising or profiling cookies;
– Cookies related to social network widgets;
– Cookies related to social buttons.
• Technical cookies
These cookies allow the user to navigate the website or application and use the various options or services available therein (videos to facilitate purchases, social networks, etc.). These cookies, always sent by the web server, are necessary to correctly display the site and any products/services offered, unless the user changes the settings in their browser, thus affecting the display of the site pages.
• Analytics cookies
These cookies allow anonymous analysis of website user behavior, allowing us to measure user activity and develop browsing profiles, also for the purpose of improving websites.
Cookies in this category are typically used to collect information on site usage. This information is typically used for anonymous statistical analysis to improve site usability and make content more interesting and relevant to users. This type of cookie collects anonymous data on user activity. Analytics cookies can be sent from the site itself or, as often happens, from third-party domains. When these cookies are sent from third-party domains external to the site, they are used to collect anonymous information on site usage by users, such as pages visited, time spent on the site, traffic sources, and geographic location.
• Behavioral advertising or profiling cookies
These cookies allow the management of advertising space on the website based on the user’s behavior and browsing habits, from which a user profile is generated, thus making it possible to personalize the advertising displayed in the user’s browser. These cookies are necessary to create user profiles in order to send advertising messages in line with the preferences expressed by the user within the website pages.
• Cookies related to social network widgets
These cookies facilitate the user’s interaction and/or sharing of content through social networks. The presence of plugins involves the transmission of cookies to and from all sites managed by third parties. The management of information collected by “third parties” is governed by the relevant policies, to which we ask you to refer.
• Cookies related to social buttons
Social buttons are those special “buttons” present on the website that depict the icons of social networks (for example, Twitter) and allow users who are browsing to interact directly with social networks with a single click.
Social Buttons are links that redirect to the social network accounts depicted. Therefore, using these buttons does not install third-party cookies. Furthermore, the site does not share any browsing information or user data acquired from the social networks accessible through the Social Buttons.
4. COOKIES USED ON THE WEBSITE
A detailed analysis of the cookies used on our Portal essentially allows us to analyze the use of the services and content provided by the Portal to optimize the browsing experience and perform statistical analyses.
The cookies used on the Portal are technical and analytical, and include both our own and third-party cookies.
Our first-party cookies are exclusively technical and are used exclusively to enable proper navigation on the Portal.
Third-party cookies are both technical, related to viewing videos on the Portal via YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook, and analytical, related to navigation and belonging to Google Analytics.
Cookies are activated whenever a new user (hereinafter “User”) accesses the Portal or if the cookies have been deleted.
For Google Analytics cookies, consent may be expressed by the User in one or more of the following ways:
– through specific browser configurations or the related software used to navigate the Portal pages;
– by changing your settings for third-party services.
To opt out of personalized ads for Google Analytics, go to: https://www.google.it/settings/ads and opt out.
